Birds move so quickly, flitting about, but there is always a moment of awareness, a connection to be made. Wrens are tiny, secretive birds, hiding in bushes, on walls, in the trees, almost perfectly camouflaged. So when she pauses and notices you watching, it is a special moment. You hold your breath as you watch the little bird watch you. Bright eyes curious and wary, she ruffles her feathers and darts away, merging back into the tangle of leaves.
With this portrait I encourage you to feel awe and wonder at the world all around us, above us, below us. To stop and pause and be more aware, to open your eyes and really see, and feel the joy that seeing brings.

The wren is in a 6 inch embroidery hoop backed with felt for a smooth finish. It comes with a cotton hanger, which can be removed if you prefer to prop it up instead.

It is made using fabric collage and free motion embroidery. I then cut it out and applique it to the background fabric before framing it with the hoop.

It is very tactile and the beauty of the hoop is that you can touch it as much as you want!

Hang out of direct sunlight to avoid fading.
