a fine art giclee print
I designed this piece with Mother’s Day in mind, but it would make a lovely gift to send to a loved one at any time of the year.
The original textile artwork is created by layering up many small pieces of fabric to create interesting effects and textures. These are stuck in place and then sewed over using my sewing machine. I use a technique called free motion stitching where I draw with the threads, and in this case, as I draw with threads over the little pieces of fabric the edges ruffle and become frayed creating beautiful textures and effects. I use the fabrics as you would use paint, each little piece is like a brushstroke, another piece of the whole work. All the fabrics I use are offcuts and unwanted bits and pieces that are too small for other creative people to use, so they donate them to me!
The print itself has been printed by professional fine art printers on heavey textured paper giving the surface a lovely feel. The colours are vibrant and the details of the textile art very clear. Each print is titled by hand and signed by myself. There are a limited number available as I only printed a small batch.
It measures slightly taller and narrower than A4 and will fit into a standard frame with a mount aperture of A4. It measures 23cm x 33cm. The white border is 1 inch wide. It will be posted out to you wrapped in acid free tissue paper and in a hardbacked envelope to protect it.
If it is a gift I can send it directly to your loved one and include a handwritten message of your choice. Just contact me directly by email, facebook or instagram to arrange.
